There Will Always Be Flowers

There Will Always Be Flowers began as a departure. Before the pandemic I photographed teenagers; during that suspended time I looked for another subject, another way of seeing.

In difficult moments one reinvents oneself. I turned to the flowers in my garden—their silence, their brief perfection, their persistence. Henri Matisse wrote: “There are always flowers for those who want to see them.” I held on to that sentence as a small proof of joy.

These prints are built slowly, layer by layer. What remains is not only an image, but the trace of time: a quiet presence on its way to memory.
